- Setting up institutional framework for scientific researchon the past and present day status of the Serbs in Hungary
- Supporting, co-ordinating, organizing, and carrying out scientific research on Serbs in Hungary
- Maintaining scientific activity in Serbian language
- Bringing upanew generation of Serbianscientists,researchers andintelligentsia in Hungary
- To integrate research results on Serbs in Hungary into Serbian, Hungarian and international scientific research
- Supporting different activities of the Serbian community in Hungary (preparing of the political decision-making process, scientific grounding of the curriculum and methodology of the Serbian minority education, etc.)
- Scientific support of the protection of the cultural heritage of Serbs in Hungary
